When rotation is the right fix (and when it isn’t)

Rotating changes the orientation of the page content, but it does not edit text, remove objects, or improve scan quality. Use rotation when the page is simply turned the wrong way.

Use rotate when pages are sideways or upside down (common with scans).
Don’t use rotate if the file is blurry or skewed—rotation won’t sharpen the scan.
Don’t use rotate to “reorder” a document—use a reorder tool instead.

Rotation tips for scans

90° clockwise is usually correct for pages scanned sideways to the left.
90° counterclockwise is usually correct for pages scanned sideways to the right.
180° is best for upside-down pages (common when scanning quickly).

Common issues and fixes

1) Some pages are correct, others are sideways

This happens often with multi-page scans. Rotate only the affected pages (if your tool supports page selection), or split the PDF, rotate the section that needs it, and merge it back.

2) The PDF prints rotated even after fixing it

Some viewers cache orientation. Re-open the downloaded PDF (or try another viewer) and print again. If the issue persists, rotate, then “sanitize/repair” the PDF to rebuild a clean copy.

3) The page looks rotated on screen but exports unchanged

Ensure you click the final Rotate action and then download the newly generated file. Also disable browser extensions that modify downloads, and try again.

4) The file won’t load or fails mid-process

If the PDF is damaged or very large, try a Repair/Sanitize PDF step first, then rotate again. For extremely complex PDFs, split into smaller parts and process them separately.
